According to reports, all EOBI Pensioners will receive increase in pension from April 2020 onwards. They will also receive arrears of January and February with the pension of march 2020. Notification is being prepared and will be issued after the approval of Federal Cabinet. Zulfiqar Bukhari had announced in December 2019 that EOBI pension will be increased from January 2020 but the pensioners were still waiting for its implementation. The new rate of pension is Rs. 8500.
Previous Pension Rates
Previously the pension was increased from Rs. 5250 to Rs. 6500 in September 2018. The Special Assistant to Prime Minister Zulfiqar Bukhari has promised to increase the pension to Rs. 15,000.
Update
EOBI has also issued a clarification in this regard which has been published in 'The News'. According to Israr Ayoubi, PRO EOBI, "EOBI hereby clarifies the fact that the decision was announced on December 12, 2019 and henceforth the process of materializing the said decision has been actively pursued. As per procedures the matter of increase in EOBI pension will be tabled before the EOBI Board of Trustees in its forthcoming meeting thereafter the decision of the board will be put-up before the federal cabinet through the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, for its approval and issuance of notification accordingly. Therefore, it is categorically clarified that regardless of the time span involved in whole process of increase, all the EOBI pensioners will get their enhanced pension with arrears from January 2020."
Why on earth the notification was not issued? Its seems a "Management" problem
